Custom timber wedge ceiling
CSR Himmel supplied custom Imprint Acoustics Timber Wedge Panels, Imprint Acoustics Timber Lay In Slotted Panels with Steel Grid in Black to the Mental Health Commission Office in Perth, Western Australia.
The new premises brings together the MHC and associated organisations, Western Australian Association for Mental Health (WAAMH), Western Australian Network of Alcohol & Other Drug Agencies (WANADA), Local Drug Action Groups (LDAG) and Office of the Chief Psychiatrist (OCP) under one roof in a newly refurbished dual level facility. The new fit out of the office space meant that Mental Health was at the forefront of the design process. HASSELL investigated the meaning of wellness within the workplace and how the physical environment can allow people to thrive. Four key interlinked components were implemented:
- Activity and Movement
- Choice and Control
- Identity and Expression
- Environment
These four components were used to give life to the workplace and enhance wellbeing. Adam Paikos-Coe, Senior Interior Designer at HASSELL provided insight into the concept behind the unique custom Timber Wedge Ceiling. Mr Paikos-Coe described the importance of interior design capturing agile workplace design principles, encouraging movement within the workplace. References to the natural environment and Biophilia (an instinctive bond between human beings and other living systems) meant that HASSELL wanted to use alternative and varying light sources and natural products to improve the wellbeing and workspace environment of employees.
The end product of the project resulted in a striking and unique ceiling centrepiece, which achieved the delicate balance between HASSELL’s concept and delivery. Their willingness to invest in locally manufactured products ensured an incredible custom finish.
