Next Level Ceiling Tiles For Commercial Projects

Inspiration Ceiling Tiles

If you’re looking to take the design and functionality of your commercial project to the next level, ceiling tiles will take care of acoustics, aesthetics and many other aspects of your ceiling requirements.

With Australia’s widest range of smart ceiling solutions, Himmel’s stocked range of sustainable ceiling systems offer simple installation and stunning designs to suit any space, from offices and educational facilities, to healthcare, hospitality and retail environments.

What to look for when choosing your ceiling system

Some of  the many factors to consider when selecting the appropriate ceiling tile for your commercial interior project are:

• Acoustics

• Visual appeal

• Sustainability

• Fire resistance

Acoustics
Restaurants, offices, classrooms, waiting rooms: when sound control is critical to the success of your space, you need to consider the Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) – how sound is absorbed and reduced, and the Ceiling Attenuation Class (CAC) – blocking sound transmission between adjacent, closed spaces with a suspended ceiling system.

Himmel’s stocked range of acoustic ceiling tiles both absorb sound within a space, and help block sound from travelling to adjacent spaces, thereby reducing echoes and reverberation – improving peace and privacy.

You can find the NRC and CAC rating for each of our stocked ceiling tiles on their product pages or downloadable data sheets.

Visual appeal
At Himmel, design is just as important as functionality. Which is why all of our acoustic ceiling solutions offer exquisite aesthetic appeal that can subtly – or boldly influence the ambience of a space. Think:

• Smooth, modern ceiling tiles with a concealed grid and the symmetrical painted edge details of Ecophon’s Focus Ds.

• Contemporary monolithic face pattern of OWA’s Brillianto A ceiling tiles.

• Warm ambience of Troldtekt’s acoustic panels – which, like ceiling tiles, can be used seamlessly on wall or ceiling.

• Bold, vibrant colours of Martini’s dECO Ceiling Tiles.

Sustainability
As industry leaders, it is our responsibility to reduce our footprint and strive for a future with minimal impact on the planet.

CSR Himmel is proud to partner with globally recognised brands that are passionate about sustainability and are continually evolving their methodologies to reduce their environmental footprint.

Fire Resistance
Many of Himmel’s ceiling tiles are manufactured in accordance with Australian standard AS 5637.1, offering fire resistance and the ability to withstand high temperatures. Check out the fire rating for each of our products.

Industry And Application

Why are some environments louder than others? Not all restaurants are so noisy you can’t hear conversation across the table. And it is possible to create a peaceful, yet industrious classroom. And a serene waiting room. Often, it’s as simple as enhancing the acoustics with ceiling tiles.

Offices and Educational Environments
Acoustic performance is paramount in creating a high-quality work and learning environment. Mineral fibre tiles with high NRC values are commonly used to reduce noise and enhance speech clarity in offices and classrooms. Additionally, tiles with high CAC values ensure privacy in offices and meeting rooms.

The impressive acoustic properties and modern face pattern of Ecophon’s glasswool Focus A tile make it a popular choice for office and educational ceiling solutions. And for a visual pop when retrofitting, Martini dECO Ceiling Tiles bring quality acoustics – and colour – to a standard suspended ceiling system with the dECO Felt colour range.

Healthcare Facilities
Quality acoustics are just one prerequisite for building a successful healthcare space. Other considerations include fire resistance, ease of cleaning and anti-pathogen properties.

Specifically designed for healthcare applications, OWA Sinfonia Humancare is a mineral fibre ceiling tile that offers high acoustic properties, actively combats noroviruses and MRSA pathogens, and has a modern face pattern.

Ecophon Hygiene Advance A is a glasswool ceiling tile that is fully encapsulated in a smooth high-performance film impervious to particles and water.

Case study: modern, hygienic ceiling
Medical Centre Mittenwald in Germany uses OWA Sinfonia Humancare to create a modern yet hygienic ceiling that will prevent bacteria growth – and create an acoustically comfortable environment for patients.

Retail and Hospitality Spaces
Aesthetics are key in creating an inviting atmosphere in hotels, restaurants and retail spaces. But how do you reduce the din when every table is booked?

Wooden-look ceiling tiles offer a warm, luxurious feel with acoustics to match, while crisp plasterboard has a modern, chic look that also enhances the overall experience for customers.

Case study: fresh finishes for Woolies
Himmel supplies Gyprock Freshtone ceiling tiles to Woolworths Supermarkets across Australia. The plasterboard ceiling tile, covered in white vinyl for a sleek finish, is paired with Rondo Duo Exposed Steel Grid to create a modern and durable space.

Ceiling Tiles For Any Project

Every ceiling tile range comes with unique properties and applications.

Glasswool Ceiling Tiles: Glasswool’s high density makes it excellent at sound absorption. Lightweight, fire resistant and easy to install, it’s perfect for environments with a contemporary, streamlined look – where minimal sound reverberation is essential.

Plasterboard Ceiling Tiles: Lightly textured, premium quality plasterboard ceiling tiles provide excellent acoustic separation. For additional sound absorption in commercial grid ceilings, consider Gyprock’s Perforated Panels.

Mineral Fibre Ceiling Tiles: Known for its resistance to corrosion, humidity, heat, wear and tear, mineral fibre ceiling tiles are also often favoured for their acoustic properties.

Polyester Fibre Ceiling Tiles: Polyester fibre is used to create lightweight, versatile, and highly effective sound-absorbing materials.

Installation And Grid Systems

The method of installation and the type of grid system that accompanies your ceiling tiles will depend on the ceiling system and the tiles you choose. This can impact both the functionality and aesthetics of a space.

Suspended system
A common ceiling system in office and retail spaces, suspended ceilings offer a decorative feature by covering the entire ceiling area.

The ceiling grid is a metal framework hung from the structure of the building, creating a concealed ceiling plenum (ventilation space). This allows architects and designers to hide bulky items such as services, ducting, cables, insulation and studs above the ceiling line. Ceiling tiles can then be laid into the grid.

Lay-in grid system
The lay-in system is similar to suspended ceilings but designed for tiles to ‘lay’ into the grid – or be lifted through the ceiling and lowered into place – rather than being suspended. This method is often used with lightweight tiles such as mineral fibre and Gyprock, providing a clean, finished look.

Direct fixed system
A direct fixed ceiling system can be attached directly to a supporting structure such as metal furring channels or wooden battens. This allows for tiles to be securely fastened, and provides a seamless look. It could limit access to the ceiling void.
